This page explains which cookies the Mentup websites — mentup.eu and mentup.it — use, and what we keep on your device. It is provided under Art. 122 of the Italian Privacy Code (Legislative Decree 196/2003) and the Italian data protection authority's 2021 guidelines on cookies.
It is a short page, and the reason is simple: we use only one cookie.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a site saves in your browser. It can be used to keep you signed in, to remember a preference, or else — and this is the worrying case — to follow you from one site to another in order to build an advertising profile.
The distinction that matters is this: technical cookies serve to make the service you asked for work, and by law they do not require your consent. All the others — profiling, third-party analytics, advertising — require prior consent, freely given and revocable.
2. The cookies we use
| Name | Who sets it | What it is for | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
PHPSESSID |
Mentup (first party) | Keeps the session open in the members' area: without it, you would have to re-enter your password on every page | Session — deleted when the browser is closed | Technical |
It is the only cookie on all our sites, and it is set only in the
members' area of mentup.it, that is, after you have chosen to sign in. The
public pages — including the one you are reading — set no cookies at all.

mentup.it and in the members' area.
3. What we do NOT use
As at the date of this page, the Mentup websites:
- use no profiling or advertising cookies;
- use no analytics tools: no Google Analytics, no Tag Manager;
- use no pixels from Meta, Google or other advertising networks;
- load no third-party scripts — not even typefaces, which are the ones already present on your device: this way your visit is not reported to any external provider;
- embed no videos, maps or social widgets that would set cookies of their own;
- share no browsing data with anyone.
4. Why there is no banner
A consent banner is needed when a site sets non-technical cookies. We set none: the only cookie that exists is necessary to keep you signed in, and for technical cookies the law does not require consent (Art. 122(1) of the Italian Privacy Code).
Asking you for a consent that serves no purpose would make it harder to tell apart the cases where it really counts.
If in future we were to introduce an analytics tool or any non-technical cookie, a compliant banner would appear before it was set, with refusing as easy as accepting, and this page would be updated before the change.
5. Other information kept on your device
Besides cookies, a site can keep data in the browser's local memory (local storage). It is not the same thing, but it should be declared all the same.
On our web pages we keep no data in the browser's local memory. Verified on
6 September 2026 on the public pages of mentup.eu, on the public site of
mentup.it and in the members' area.
6. There are no cookies in the app
Cookies are a web technology: they do not exist in the Mentup app. The app does keep some information on the device — the token that keeps you signed in, held in the operating system's encrypted store, the language, the country and a few display preferences. The full list is in the Privacy Policy, at section 9.
7. How to manage cookies from your browser
You can block or delete cookies at any time from your browser's settings. Bear in mind that by blocking technical cookies the members' area will stop working: you would no longer be able to stay signed in.
